Rating: 5
Bauer does an excellent job of explaining the basics and details of pharmacokinetics; this book is great guide for both students and practicing clinicians. Many pharmacokinetic residents and fellows live by this book and it came highly reccommended to me by experienced clinicians.
Summary: Nuts and bolts kinetics
Rating: 5
As you read this text it becomes apparent that it was written by an in-the-trenches clinical pharmacist. It focuses on the practical application of pharmacokinetics in patient care. The text is very readable, written in an easy to follow style. The tables and illustrations are well presented, providing insight to the topic. There are chapters on aminoglycosides, vancomycin, digoxin, antiarrhythmics, anticonvulsants, cylcosporine, lithium, and theophylline. Each chapter contains practical step-by-step examples for both initial dosage determinations and serum level analysis. But you’ll need to look elsewhere for pediatric pk information, application to peds is limited.
